Elite Prep Branches Accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges
November 30, 2017
Nineteen branches of Elite Educational Institute have received accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
One of six regional associations that accredit public and private schools, colleges, and universities in the United States, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is a world-renowned accrediting association whose self-described mission is to “assure the educational community, the general public, and other organizations and agencies that an institution has clearly defined objectives appropriate to education.” The accreditation process requires schools complete an application request and, if approved, undergo an on-site evaluation.
For Elite Prep, WASC accreditation means that students can earn school credit at its nineteen accredited branches, helping students catch up or get ahead as they prepare for college applications.
The most recent branch of Elite Education Group to receive WASC accreditation is Elite Open School, a non-traditional “micro-school” housed across 27 Elite branches. Since receiving WASC accreditation in 2016, Elite Open School has provided digital online courses for a variety of students who need flexibility in their educational experiences, such as athletes, actors, homeschoolers, or those looking to catch up, get ahead, or boost their GPA.
“The opportunity to take WASC-accredited courses through Elite Open School has been absolutely transformative for many of our students,” said Kate Her, Director of Elite Prep Los Angeles. “Before coming to Elite, one of our students attempted to take Algebra II and Precalculus at the same time but ended up failing Precalculus. Through Elite Open School, she was able to retake and pass Precalculus in about sixth months, all without interrupting her regular high school schedule.”
“Another student used after-school hours and spring break to complete a year’s worth of Geometry in a single month. It’s been incredible to see our students use their free time to put themselves in the best position for college.”
In addition to Elite Open School, students can take WASC-accredited courses at Elite Prep branches in Anaheim Hills, Arcadia, Cerritos, Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Irvine-Newport Beach, Irvine-Northwood, Laguna Hills, Los Angeles, Northridge, Rowland Heights, San Jose, San Diego-Pacific Highlands, San Diego-Rancho Bernardo, Thousand Oaks, Torrance, Valencia, and Westwood.
Elite hopes to expand this roster in the near future, as five additional branches initiated the WASC accreditation process in 2017.
