UC Admission Predictor

Your chance of admission at each University of California campus, estimated from your GPA and UC's own figures for fall 2025, and whether each is a reach, a match or likely for you.

Your Chances, Campus by Campus

Choose your UC GPA. Each campus then shows your estimated chance of admission and whether it is a reach, a match or likely for you, from fall 2025's admissions.

Your UC GPA (capped weighted)

Not sure? The GPA calculator works it out from your courses.

UC's minimum GPA is 3.00 for California residents and 3.40 for everyone else, in the A–G courses it requires. Below that, each figure is the share of applicants in the band who were admitted anyway, and they are few.

Choose your GPA above to see your chance at each campus.

Reach is under a 1-in-4 chance, or any campus that admits fewer than 20% of all its applicants. Likely is 3 in 4 or better, and match is in between: the same rule of thumb as our college list builder. In each chart, the bars are UC's figure for each GPA band, the line is the estimate, and the gold bar under it spans the middle half of the GPAs the campus admitted.

How the Estimate Works

UC publishes how many applicants in each GPA band every campus admitted. Within a band, though, chances are far from equal: at the most selective campuses most applicants, and nearly everyone admitted, have a 4.00 or higher, and a 4.30 has several times the chance of a 4.00. So the estimate draws a smooth curve through each campus's figures, fitted so that its average over every band matches UC's figure for that band, and reads your GPA off it. Where even the strongest applicants are not all admitted, the curve levels off where the figures do.

Below 3.00, UC's minimum for California residents, the estimate is the band's own figure. The curve assumes GPAs are spread evenly within each band and that UC's capped GPA tops out at about 4.40; finer figures from UC would replace both assumptions.

It cannot see your intended major (engineering and computer science admit far fewer at many campuses), whether you are a California resident (each campus's figure for residents is under Each Campus below), or anything beyond your grades: UC's readers also weigh your answers to the Personal Insight Questions, your activities and achievements, and the opportunities your school offered you. Treat it as a starting point for your list, not a verdict.

Honors courses (AP, IB and college courses) are not part of it. UC reports admissions by honors courses separately from GPA rather than together, and students with higher GPAs take more honors courses, so the two figures overlap and cannot be added up. The table below shows UC’s honors-course figures as they are.

The GPA is the University of California's own capped weighted GPA, worked out from your 10th- and 11th-grade courses; the GPA calculator explains how it differs from the GPA on your transcript.
