SAT and ACT Superscore Calculator

Your SAT superscore is your best Reading and Writing score plus your best Math score, taken from any of your SAT test dates. Your ACT superscore is the average of your best English, math and reading scores from any of your ACT attempts, rounded to the nearest whole number — science no longer counts.

How Each Test Superscores

SAT: take the highest Reading and Writing score you have earned on any date and the highest Math score on any date, and add them. Each section is scored 200–800 in steps of 10, so a superscore runs from 400 to 1600. College Board sends whole test dates, never single sections; a college that superscores picks the best sections out of the dates you send.

ACT: take your best English, best math and best reading scores from any attempts since September 2016, add them, divide by three and round to the nearest whole number, with a half rounding up. That is the same arithmetic as the Composite on the enhanced ACT, which leaves science out: it has been optional since the enhanced test arrived (online in April 2025, on paper in September 2025, in school-day testing from spring 2026), and ACT reports it separately, with a STEM score, rather than in the Composite or the superscore.

Old and new ACTs mix. A best English from a 2024 paper test and a best reading from an enhanced test in 2025 combine into one superscore — ACT uses the best score from each section “regardless of which version of the test that section score came from.” The only thing the old test changes is its own Composite, which averaged four sections including science.

Whether a college superscores at all is that college’s policy, and some ask for every score you have. Check each college’s own testing page before choosing what to send.

SAT Superscore

Worked Example

SAT superscore worked example: two test dates
Test dateReading and WritingMathTotal that day
March 20266507001350
June 20267006801380
  • Best Reading and Writing 700 (June 2026), best Math 700 (March 2026).
  • Superscore 1400 — 700 + 700, against a best single day of 1380.
  • College Board’s User Group percentile for 1400 is 93, and 1400 concords to an ACT Composite of 31.

ACT Superscore

Worked Example: an Old ACT and a New One

ACT superscore worked example: one legacy and one enhanced attempt
TestEnglishMathReadingScienceComposite that day
June 2025, on paper (legacy)3027322930
October 2025 (enhanced)2831293029
  • The legacy test’s Composite averaged four sections, science included: 30 + 27 + 32 + 29 = 118, ÷ 4 = 29.50, which rounds up to 30 because a half rounds up.
  • The enhanced test’s averaged three and left science out: 28 + 31 + 29 = 88, ÷ 3 = 29.33, so 29.
  • Superscore 31 — best English, math and reading from either test: 30 + 31 + 32 = 93, ÷ 3 = 31, against a best single day of 30. Science is not in it.
  • ACT’s National Rank for 31 is 96, and 31 concords to an SAT total of 1400 (1390–1410).
