College Courses at Elite

Take college courses in Anthropology, Astronomy and Statistics at Elite! In conjunction with the Center for Independent and Distance Learning (CIDL) at the University of Oklahoma, Elite offers the following college courses beginning in January 2006:

  • Anthropology (ANTH 1113)
  • Astronomy (ASTR 1504)
  • Statistics (COMM 2513)

These courses—the same ones taken by students attending the University of Oklahoma— will let you learn subjects not typically offered at high schools, obtain transferable high school and college credits, and enhance your college application by showing that you have completed college-level coursework.

The University of Oklahoma is accredited by the North Central Association's Higher Learning Commission and other accrediting agencies. While the coursework is demanding, you will meet with instructors who will guide you through the material. Classes meet twice per week over a twelve-week period.

Registration for the Elite-OU CIDL Program is open through January 23, 2006, and classes will begin during the week of January 30, 2006. Please contact Elite to inquire about program schedule and availability.

College Application/Interview Workshop

Elite offers two workshops to help seniors navigate the college application process. In the College Application Workshop, you will learn how to write unique, memorable, and powerful personal essays. Teachers meet with you individually to proofread, critique, and revise multiple drafts until you have a polished and compelling personal essay. In addition, teachers provide step-by-step guidance in completing the college application forms.

The Interview Workshop builds your confidence in approaching the college interview, an experience that many students find daunting. In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to experience several mock interviews and receive constructive feedback from our specially traned teachers. You will be able to walk into your college interview with a good sense of what kind of questions to expect, how to converse actively with the interviewer, and how to make the best impression possible.
